San Fran’s Fillmore West To Reopen After 45 Years As SVN West

The once iconic Fillmore West in San Francisco was until recently a Honda dealership. Well, it is going to be a music venue again.

On June 14, 2018 a benefit concert will take place in the building at 10 South Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco for the first time since 1971.

The Fillmore West final show was on July 4, 1971. Promoter Bill Graham closed the venue after five nights of acts including Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grateful Dead, Boz Scaggs, Elvin Bishop Group and Santana.

From those concerts, a live album ‘Fillmore: The Last Days’ and the documentary ‘Last Days at the Fillmore’ was released in 1972.

I hope they put some decent acts in there. Here in Philadelphia some guy refurbished an old warehouse and tried to name it the Fillmore East. I see they now call it Fillmore Philadelphia. It could be my age but I don't know 95% of the acts they put in there.
