Re: Buffalo Springfield vs The Yardbirds

Love Neil Young to this day to be sure but the nod just has to go to the Yardbirds............they only player I liked in B Springfield was Young but I liked all the players in The Yardbirds and the stuff they did individually afterwards.

Re: Buffalo Springfield vs The Yardbirds

Both are far out! I think as Yardbirds go, they had a bit more pep in their songs! I just can't say which sound is best! Loved them both!

Re: Buffalo Springfield vs The Yardbirds

I like everything that came out of The Yardbirds a lot more than I liked the Yardbirds. There was better British Invasion rock (The Beatles and The Stones) and there was better Blues Rock (Cream and Led Zeppelin). That being said, they had God, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. Not to mention, the other musicians were equally talented, though they weren't household names. The Yardbirds pretty much created the late 60s and 70s in terms of lasting effects. Jimmy Page went on to form one of the most influential bands of all time, Clapton formed several bands and enjoyed a solo career that's still going on today and Beck himself had a successful post Yardbirds career.

Dispite the three aforementioned guitarists, I went with Buffalo Springfield. I think that if it weren't for their influence and members, The Yardbirds would not be as highly regarded, so I feel that I have to take them out of the equasion. Look at the libraries of both, I have to go with Springfield. IMO, they simply had better songs that showed the talent of all their musicians. The Yardbirds did a bunch of covers and "For Your Love" doesn't do much for me.

Link to cool Page & Beck together:
i credited them completely:

from yardbirds came, jeff beck, Beck Bogart and Appice,

clapton, derek and the dominoes, blind faith, cream,

jimmy page, led zeppelin, and the band he finally made with paul rogers who's name escapes me and rightfully so.

Re: Buffalo Springfield vs The Yardbirds

The Yardbirds, hands down. I like a couple of Buffalo Springfield songs, but I can't listen to one of their albums all the way through.

Music Note Re: Buffalo Springfield vs The Yardbirds

I really like both bands but the Yardbirds get my vote in this one.
