Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
I've recently been reintroducing myself to Prog Rock and have been going off the beaten path of Yes, ELP, Genesis and others giants of the genre. Recently "found" an American band called Starcastle and their stuff isn't bad at all if somewhat sounding like Yes lite.
I've got 3 of their albums now: Starcastle (debut) Fountains Citadel Not bad stuff at all even it sounds somewhat dated. ![]() Anybody got anymore? I've got a few more waiting in the wings and I'll post them later on.

Re: Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
Starcastle reminded me of Yes. Great band - I own 3 of thier albums. Former REO Speedwagon member Terry Luttrell handled thier lead vocals.

Re: Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
Fireballet - a group from New Jersey that came very close to breaking into the members only domination of the British dominated realm of prog rock. I knew them when they were known as the Fire Ball Kids. They played my college a few times and were very good. They released two albums, the first "Night on Bald Mountain" was very well received and got good air play on New York's WNEW-FM. The second album "Two Too" was not so accepted. They developed a small cult following but eventually drifted in obscurity.

Re: Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
Since Dwill scooped me on Fireballet, I'll go to the next band on my list of recently "found" prog bands, Skin Alley.

Recently picked up two of their albums, the debut Skin Alley and To Pagham And Beyond.

Re: Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
David Sancious and Tone still to this day I sound the praises of this band any and every time I get the chance. Consisting of David Sancious (original piano player of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band) and Ernest Carter, drummer on Springsteen's "Born to Run". The band is one that everyone should at least hear whether or not you like them.

Re: Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
Here's a great list of 70's-early 80's Prog bands from the Midwest (not strictly):
http://rateyourmusic.com/list/ashrat...0s_early_80s_/ That's how I reminded myself of Zazu (on Wooden Nickel, same label as early Styx) ![]() Here's a great blog posting on this type of band, coined as Progadelica: http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2010/04/blogpost-11.html Includes tracks by Zazu and lots of great/weird artwork. Re: Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
One from very close by, Youngstown, Ohio, was Glass Harp. The band featured Phil Keaggy who is considered by many as one of the best guitarists of all time. Lately he's devoted himself to making Christian music. Glass Harp reunites every so often and plays up in Youngstown and they usually sell out.

Re: Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
Found Krull's Zazu on YouTube. Not bad:
Found another link that might help us in our search for "forgotten Prog Rock bands". http://www.progarchives.com/ Haven't had a chance to explore that site in depth yet but it looks like they have a lot of info on the prog rock scene past and present. ![]()

Re: Forgotten Bands Of Prog Rock
Tony Kaye formed Badger after he left Yes with David Foster. The group only put out 2 albums, One Live Badger and White Lady. I've only ever seen the One Live Badger album. The debut was unique as it was a live album. Rare that a band puts out it's first album and it's a live recording. I do like this album a lot.
Edit: iTunes now has White Lady available while for some reason One Live Badger is not anymore.
