This is in your opinion, and also going from what you see in the industry, but check off all the things that Radiohead is at the moment..

Re: Radiohead is...

I assume Radiohead is one of the greatest because they are. They are, if for no other reason, than because a buttload of people think they are. As a rock band that the world praises, I will either someday come to like them or I will at least go through a weeklong period where they're the best thing I've ever heard (like The Beatles).

I actually hate their whole genre right now, the soft alternative. But that's how I felt about grunge and metal, so eventually that will change. I bought Pablo Honey recently. So it could change very rapidly.

I really love some of what Radiohead does outside of the music. I still haven't forgiven them for making fun of Kurt Cobain though.

Re: Radiohead is...

I haven't ever heard a single tune from them that I cared to listen to a second or third time, even though I have listened to some of their stuff multiple times to try and figure out why people like them.

Then again, I think U2 is one of the most overrated bands in the history of music, so wtf do I know? Popularity is what it is. Britney Spears has made a few hundred million dollars being popular, so, take it for what it's worth.

Re: Radiohead is...

Everything except overrated. Overrated is an overrated term. I am guilty of using it with a lot of bands, but thats just because I don't like them. Its really hard to say Radiohead is overrated, or any band for that matter. They have millions of fans, high critic reviews, a couple of Grammy's, and a couple of number one albums. Whats really important though is that they're music is very good and very original. You may not like Radiohead, but they're a very respectable band in many aspects...

Then again, Radiohead is my favorite band of all time.

I'm not a terribly huge fan, but I don't think they're overrated.. What I've heard from them I like, and I know I should probably listen to them a bit more, but I have a hard enough time keeping up with all the stuff I'm into right now..

What they said. How about a really good band who has put out some intersting and innovative music.

Re: Radiohead is...

i'm having a problem with all the "est"s floating around in the options.

i have three albums. i find them really groovy and unique, although i do hafta be in the mood for it. i guess if i had to pick an option just going from this poll, it would be "overrated", because i don't think they're the "est"est anything. but overrated implies i don't dig the band, and i do.

i still remember the first time i ever heard "creep" on the radio...

um, never mind.

Re: Radiohead is...

I had the great misfortune of seeing them live in 1995 - turned me off of them for... well, 12 years and counting. Overrated in my book though I'm sure they've done something to deserve the (small) hoohah about them.

None of the above. Great band, but not one of the superlatives you are throwing around in this pool.

Re: Radiohead is...

I gotta agree with several that none of the choices quite fit my opinion. I have all their albums except PABLO HONEY (not sure why, I just never got it), and like parts of all of them (and almost all of OK COMPUTER). I think they are inventive, daring and interesting, but not "greatest" or "biggest."

I think they have a chance to be the most influential as far as the business model of music distribution with the next album, though.

You've missed out on quite a few things since their '95 stuff.

Whether right or wrong, I wouldn't call the hooha about them small...

Re: Radiohead is...

I can't honestly say anything about Radiohead because frankly I haven't listened to much of them. I've heard a few songs here and there, and I liked them somewhat, but my instinct is to say that they're overrated. Again, that's just instinct. I knew a guitarist in college who liked a lot of the same music I did. Once early on, he asked me what my favorite bands were. I told him I liked Led Zeppelin, and he was like "awesome!" Then I said I also liked Pink Floyd, that they were my favorite band in high school, and he was like "that's incredible, they're my favorite band, too!" And then he asked me if I also like Radiohead, and I was like, "Radiohead...?" He said it seemed like a natural progression, Led Zeppelin -> Pink Floyd -> Radiohead, but I was just like, um 1970's, 1970's, 1990's? Where's that connection?
