Re: Tom Petty In Critical Condition After Cardiac Arrest

My son went to a party last night at his college dedicated to Tom. He reached all age groups.

Tom Petty's Cause of Death: Accidental Overdose

Singer had been taking several pain medications, including Fentanyl patches, to treat fractured hip and other issues

I have uncle who is addicted to pain killers, and how he is still alive, I don't know.

Baby boomers are getting old, and they manage their pain with prescribed medication. It's become an epidemic.

That is so depressing. It’s almost like he died for us, woulda been a lot healthier without that last tour. Sure glad I decided to go. After having seen him 5 times I almost considered not going. It was unthinkable to me that I wouldn’t at least have another decade of Petty.

Petty died for somebody's sins, but not mine.

Seriously, the medical examiner's news release said the autopsy found these drugs in Petty's system: fentanyl, oxycodone, acetyl fentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl, which are opioids; temazepam and alprazolam, which are sedatives; and citalopram, an antidepressant. My gosh, he wasn't a stupid man, but that's a staggering amount of potentially fatal medication, what was he thinking?

Hate to say it, but I agree with you. He was taking enough pills to kill a full grown elephant.

The fentanyl alone is potentially fatal, and combining it with Xanax (alprazolam) supposedly increases the chance for overdosing by 400%.
