I prefer at least 5-6 other Stones records (Aftermath, Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Some Girls, Tattoo You - I like all of them more than Exile). Exile is very good though, so it's the third option for me

Eh, Exile doesn't do anything for me. It just bores me.

Exile is a brilliant album, but I don't go a long with the theory that was the last great album they made, goats head soup, its only rock'n'roll, black and blue some girls and tatto you are all classic albums

"Exile" is eclipsed by only one other Stones album and that one happens to have a crotch on the cover.

"Exile" is good but it's just too long and with not enough variety.

In my younger, bright-eyed naive years I would have said no. There are other Stones albums which are more consistent and probably even have better songs. But those albums are just straight ahead, good albums. Exile is different. Exile is unique, it's raw, it's tortured. If tasked with identifying the piece of work which declares the Stones to be a formidable and 'great' band, Exile is my pick without doubts. Exile carries the spark of the divine.
Good response. I'll keep that in mind the next time I give "Exile" a spin.

Relative to other Stones' albums, I have to say I don't like it.

Here's my ranking of Stones' albums up to the mid-nineties not including greatest hit packages or live albums:

Flowers
December's Children
Rolling Stones Now
Sticky Fingers
Beggars' Banquet
Let It Bleed
Their Satanic Majesties Request
Steel Wheels
Dirty Work
Between the Buttons(U.S.)
Some Girls
Out of Our Heads
Voodoo Lounge
Tattoo You
Black and Blue
Emotional Rescue
Aftermath(U.S.)
England's Newest Hitmakers
Exile on Main Street
12 X 5
Goat's Head Soup
It's Only Rock 'n Roll
Undercover

If I had to pick just one Stones' album on CD though, it would be either "Forty Licks" or "The London Years":

4. Exile On Main St.
These are what I like to call the Big Four. To me, they're all equally great, and the peak of the Stones' career.

Ffffftttt!!! The opinion of dilettantes who merely fancy themselves to be Stones' fans.
