It Sounds Like The Beatles

Post a video for a song that you think sounds like the Beatles but is performed by another artist, group. No covers.

This one had me fooled when I first heard it.

My younger brother thought for years that this was the Beatles. I was about 16 when the record came out, so I always knew it was the Knicks. But if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, the Beatles must have been very flattered indeed.

I love how the lead singer is holding a saxophone for no apparent reason. He even pretends to play it at one point, even though there's no sax on the record.

To me this sounds like a long-lost Beatles song…

I think this may not be the recorded version, but if it's worth seeing them sing. Beatles sound-alikes, but so much more.

That was the first one that popped into my head as well.

I've always wondered why a band with so much talent only succeeded in recording the single hit.

I love the go-go dancers! I wish that music programs still featured go-go dancers. And I wonder why those frantic upper body movements have been deemphasized in women's dance? I think they're sexy!

Re: It Sounds Like The Beatles

The whole of Utopia's Deface the Music album was made to sound as close to The Beatles as possible. For reasons which don't bear analysis, John Lennon did not like Todd Rundgren and sent a waspish letter to the Melody Maker that they famously published. Lennon also attacked The Hollies for sounding a lot like The Beatles, which was true with regard to their harmonies, but most people would have taken it as a compliment. On Abbey Road, the influences of The Beach Boys, The Byrds and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac can be heard, but Lennon conveniently forgot.

I posted what I though was quite a funny clip of a track from Deface the Music, but lost patience trying to get it work (by trying to find instructions, deleting various parts of the URL and reposting etc) and just deleted the thing!
