I think White Lion's version kicks ass!

(but then again,I'm in Canada )
I think they did a good job on it too.

Re: Radar Love or Highway Star

Deep Purple is a very popular band here so it's logical "Highway Star" would be a favorite among many. "Radar Love" was a slightly more effective song overall, however, and finally gave Golden Earring the recognition this excellent band had deserved for several years previous to this 1974 hit.

Re: Radar Love or Highway Star

Finally chose:

Highway Star...

But it really is by a nose -- Radar Love just takes a few beats to get going, whereas Deep Purple get going right away. Deep Purple never lets up, whereas Golden Earring has some nice anticlimaxes (whereas usually that is a good thing, in terms of Led-Foot-ness, it's not as successful).

Re: Radar Love or Highway Star

Deep Purple was the much greater band, but in a comparison of just those two songs, I'm going to have to vote for Earring.

IMO, "Born to be Wild" should've been in the poll. It's the ultimate "pedal to the metal" song of all time.

Thumbs up Re: Radar Love or Highway Star

Love'em both, but I'm sticking with the all-time best rock song ever (or at least up to the mid '80's)

Exclamation Re: Radar Love or Highway Star

I think I can guess which track you mean but....

My vote goes to Highway Star though. The track was all about me and my 1973 Dodge Charger at the time and I grooved on it something fierce.
