Re: Thin Lizzy vs. Steely Dan vs. Genesis

I could go for either Steely Dan or Thin Lizzy, depending on my mood. Today, I'm in a Thin Lizzy mood.

Genesis=Revelation=Exodus.

Lizzy is always going to get my vote. Fun fact: Did you know that Phil Lynott was one of the dozens of singers who auditioned for Genesis after Peter Gabriel left?

I didn't know that, and I'm having a hard time imagining how that would have worked. Talk about polar opposites.

Have you heard the first three records? Lizzy was mixing in some proggier stuff with the rockers. This was pre-Jailbreak so it would have been during a period when Lynott may have been questioning the viability of Lizzy. In any case, he didn't get a call back, so I guess Phil, Mike Tony and Steve must have agreed with you.

I admit I'm not overly familiar with Thin Lizzy's first three records. When I think early Thin Lizzy, I think "Whiskey In The Jar", which doesn't strike me as a good fit for Genesis. Anyway, I'm glad it didn't come to pass.

Looks like Steely needs a little help, so a vote for them. Stiff competition!
