30+ Classic Rock Songs I Never Want to Hear Again | The Big Lead
The Big Lead

I actually agree with most of these, but he lost me when he said the Allman Bros. don't do it for him.

Oh wow, that's a lot of great music. I get sick of songs, but then I don't listen to them for along time. After a while, I might hear one somewhere and I realize I miss it. I think never is a bit strong.

Yeah, he makes a few good points but overall he misses the point so That 70s Guy is basically correct. The reason classic rock continues to be played is that good music will always continue to be played.

The reason Classic Rock continues to get played on the radio is because it is baby boomer music and baby boomers still listen to the radio. "Classic rock" stations are the morden day equivilent of oldies stations. Anyone who wants to hear a playlist of around 100 songs on shuffle day in and day out, year after year, isn't really a music fan. They are a nostalgia fan.

"Music" fan and "nostalgia" fan aren't mutually exclusive categories you know.

I don’t agree with most of the list. A few of the groups have IMO the wrong choice. I’d change:

Eagles – “Hotel California” to “Life in the Fast Lane”
Doobie Brothers – “Listen to the Music” to “China Grove”…for the love of god.
Tom Petty – “Refugee” to “Freefalling”
Steve Miller – “Rockin Me” to “Abracadabra” ("Take the Money and Run" is overplayed but I dont mind it)
Eddie Money – “Baby Hold On” to “Take Me Home Tonight” (or Two Tickets to Paradise)
Guns N Roses – “Welcome to the Jungle” to “Civil War”

Sure they are. If you can appreciate music from many different era's and genre's and are always looking for something you haven't heard before, old or new, then you are a music fan. If you only listen to music that reminds you of a time in your life that you are nostalgic for, then you are a nostalgia fan. You can be both, I suppose, but they are distinct ways of interacting with music.

Agree on Freefalling and Civil Wars should never have been played ever, for any reason.

Being both is as easy as turning the radio dial every so often, or meandering through different aisles at the record shop.

I've met people that swear Civil War is their best song. It takes all types I guess.
