Wink Police is offered £150 million to tour America and Europe

Newly reformed The Police are apparently considering accepting a massive £150 million to tour America and Europe. The three-piece fronted by Sting have reportedly been offered the sum by Rolling Stones tour promoter Michael Cohl.

Not only that, but the band - who recently announced they will play together again for the first time in decades at this month's Grammy Awards - are also said to be considering writing new material to go with a new Greatest Hits album.

A source tells The Sun, "The three of them have had their squabbles and differences over the years. “But they are all older and wiser now and they have decided to put the past behind them.

“The money has, of course, helped them to see sense.”

here

£150 million is a lot of money... just take it for the sake of all of us... (especially, me)

Re: Police is offered £150 million to tour America and Europe

Am I the only one on this forum who just can't stand these reunions without a new album. Cream, Van Halen and now The Police. Of course it's always been about the $$$$$$$$$, but at least these "artists" could put some effort into their reunion.

I can't get excited about these one off reunion tours or shows. I held out on the Van Hager reunion, because I was waiting for them to put out a new studio album and then the tour. That would show they were serious about a reunion and not fly by night. Instead, we get that joke known as Roth and a 15 year old on bass. Oh man, I'm embarrassed for Van Halen.

Re: Police is offered £150 million to tour America and Europe

In general I hate these reunions. In general I AGREE with you Re: soaking us for our cash. They should put out a new album.or at least a few new songs ...I usually detest reunions (especially when a band is missing more than one member!). In the case of The Police..I really like this idea . They've not played together in REAL long time. All members are alive and interested in playing together. I think if the members like being together ..maybe it will inspire some new music. There plenty of bands passing themselves off as 'reunioned' that only have one or two original members..that isn't a reunion. Thats two guys with a past together imo..At least The Police are all willing try it again..if money is the only reason ..they might have done it years ago . I hope it is successful Ps I agree with you about Van Halen

The Police have announced a press conference for next week, to make a "very special announcement".

The band, who are re-uniting for a performance at the Grammies on Sunday (February 11), have sparked rumours that a world tour could be on the horizon - the first since they split in 1984.

They have now confirmed that they will hold a press conference, which will be televised live around the world, this Monday in West Hollywood at 11am PST (19.00 GMT). They have promised a "very special announcement", which many believe will be to do with a global comeback tour.

Keep in mind that it takes time, patience and the right chemistry to make new records. Some of these bands have a lot of issues to sort out, and to go into a studio cold to record a batch of new songs might not work out. Playing old favorites and getting back into the groove might be easier to test the waters, and I'd imagine, much more lucrative. And if it doesn't work out, they still have a legacy catalog to look back upon. However, if the tour goes well, and the individuals involved feel compelled to carry on, then new music should follow. That's the way I see it.

I agree that reunited bands should not continually tour without a new album. Even so, a lot of their fans aren't interested in new music, even if it's there. Most fans are only interested in the hits. I can't tell you how many times I've been to a concert where when the artist plays new songs, everyone leaves to get a beer.

Re: Police is offered £150 million to tour America and Europe

Alot of fans just want to hear the old stuff by bands and don't really want to hear new music(I am not one of those fans,I enjoy new music by classic rock bands). But I have seen some bands play new stuff and some fans use them as a bathroom break.
And you know radio won't give the new music much airplay.
