Neil Young Opens Archives

Eight CDs and two DVDs of unreleased material as well as memorabilia will be released this fall.
Thursday, January 18, 2007

Legendary rocker Neil Young is finally honoring a decades-old promise to dig deep into his archives - a boxset of unreleased material will be hitting stores later this year.
The 60-year-old will unveil 'Archives Volume 1,' which features eight CDs and two DVDs of unreleased live and studio material as well as memorabilia, this fall.
Before that, Young is releasing a solo concert CD, 'Live At Massey Hall,' recorded in January 1971 in Toronto, Canada.
The disc contains songs that were released on Young's 1972 album 'Harvest.' However, Young now wishes he'd then taken the advice of his longtime producer David Briggs, and released 'Live At Massey Hall' instead.
He says, "I was very excited about the takes we got on 'Harvest' and wanted 'Harvest' out. David disagreed. As I listen to this ('Live At Massey Hall') today, I can see why."

Finally, I'm glad this is actually going to happen. Neil recorded a ton of stuff that was never released, i'm excited that we'll finally get a chance to have a listen.

Wonder how much it'll cost. $200? Whatever the price, it'll be worth it.
