Music Note Jimi Hendrix - Incarnate (???)

.......most of you guys who like "Jimi Hendrix" probably know "Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush".
Some people used to say that "Jimi Hendrix" reincarnated in Frank Marino.
I don't know about that but for sure is that I had a few people fooled who thought I was playing Jimi but in fact it was "Frank Marino".
Here are 2 recommendations which were real rarities in the vinyl age:

"Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Child Of The Novelty - 1974"

"Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Strange Universe - 1975"

The cover images below don't give much credit to the real ones but you might get an idea.

I also like:

"Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Live - 1978"

"Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Tales Of The Unexpected - 1979"

Check it out when you got a chance.......

"Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Child Of The Novelty - 1974"

"Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Strange Universe - 1975"

"Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Live - 1978"

"Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Tales Of The Unexpected - 1979"

Long time fan also, saw him a few times in concert and on the '78 tour when he was recording the live LP.
Gibson SG and I believe he used SUNN amps back then in a rack setup, incredible tones.

I was walking past the mental hospital the other day, and all the patients were shouting, "13...13....13...13."

The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks, so I walked over and looked through to see what was going on.

Someone poked me in the eye with a stick.

Then they all started shouting. "14...14...14...14....".

I used to have the Tales of the Unexpected LP. I don't remember it very well, but I bought it because of Marino's rep as the next best thing to Hendrix.

.......you should check out "Live - 1978".
Frank Marino is playing "Purple Haze" on this live album as close as you can get to Jimi's original.
If you don't know that "Frank Marino" is playing you'll take it as Hendrix.......

I'm a fan of Frank Marino (& Mahogany Rush, solo) and would agree, the earlier of his records are very much 'Jimi' like, musically and vocally. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. But I have most of his catalogue and find it enjoyable, because I'm a guitar oriented rock fan ...

It seemed to me, with each album Frank Marino release, he became a little less 'Jimi' like. I think when the 80's rolled around, he found his own total sound and put out some good solo albums.

The first Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush album I ever bought was ''Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush Live'' back in Junior High....

I always thought the early 80's one-two punch of the albums ''Power of Rock 'n' Roll'' (1981) and ''Juggernaut'' (1982) were great kick ass rock albums. These were his first, or one of his first solo albums, and very un-Jimi like. Both albums are pretty good.

I agree. I went and listened to the majority of Marino's catalog, and I found that his earlier albums sounded very derivative, whereas later on, he seemed to get a grasp of his own sound, and the music was a lot better for it. So in my opinion, Marino sounds a lot better when he's not trying to be Hendrix!

I saw Marino play a set at a blues festival last summer, and he did an amazing instrumental version of She's Not There.
