Definitely Bowie, though I'd have put Queen, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, Roy Wood/Wizard, Sweet, and Elton John on the list too.

Of the list, I'll choose Bowie...even though he's not exactly a "band".

Well I left Queen off because they sort of went from glam to progressive and then later arena rock and I wanted to keep this just glam (also because they probably wouldn't have ran away with the win. ), I've STILL never heard of Roxy Music (or Brain Eno or Roy Wood for that matter), I somehow put T. Rex on there twice instead of Sweet and am now kicking myself for it, and I'd never consider Elton John glam. Flamboyantly gay? yes. Glam? No.

T. Rex doubled?

Anyway, Bowie by far. Also really like Slade.

I do too! For me it was a toss up between Mott The Hoople and Slade.

Even if he loses I somehow believe Marc Bolan would have approved of this poll.

Clearly people don't read past posts because I've already mentioned twice one of those T. Rexes is supposed to be Sweet.

We realize you think T Rex was sweet but we are wondering why the band "Sweet" isn't in the poll?

I hate to tell you this, but David Bowie went through a number of stylistic shifts too. They didn't call him "the chameleon" for nothing.

Dayum. We ought to rectify this.

Elton John was another man who wore a number of stylistic hats back when he was still making good music.

This was
.

I should also mention Lou Reed, Alex Harvey, and Slade qualify.

Re: Which 70's glam band is the best?

The original Alice Cooper band was glam as well. From your list I'd pick New York Dolls. Bowie was probably the most influential over all, but I don't think his best stuff was done during his glam period.
