Sting and Peter Gabriel Open Tour In Ohio #SETLIST

For the last two years, Sting has been on the road with Paul Simon in a show that mixed the music of the two artists over the course of an evening.

This year, Sting has a new touring partner in Peter Gabriel. Like the Simon tour, the evening sees the two artists not only doing their own hits but also songs from each otherís catalogs; however, this time around there are a number of songs where both artists took to the stage with one in support of the other.

For Gabriel, much of his evening was centered around the album So with five of the albums nine songs in the set list. Gabriel only took on one of Stingís songs with If You Love Somebody Set Them Free.

Not a bad list but Peter got to jump it up a bit. Maybe 'Secret World' followed by some 'Digging in the Dirt'. Sting fans will have to hang on a bit while the master delivers some real prog.

Re: Sting and Peter Gabriel Open Tour In Ohio #SETLIST

I was at the Jones Beach show on Friday evening. To me, it was a decidedly pro-Sting crowd. I think playing more upbeat tunes helped him in this regard. Peter's set was good. I did notice a few yawns and head-scratching during "Darkness" which would have been better served at a Peter-only show.

The fans livened up a bit when the "So" songs hit.

Someone else from this site was in attendance. I'm sure he'll disagree.

Like that is a surprise.

Yes we disagree with Sir APM!

I thought both artist and bands were amazing. While Sting did out shine a little bit over Peter I thought both did a wonderful job. I also liked that they did each other's songs and did a few together. All in all a fun night. Before hand also as we got to hang with APM for a few hours, who is always a pleasure to talk to!

Was in the nose bleeds for most of the nite, but typical HT was able to pass by the nazi security guards for the last two songs and got up front for pictures.

Those weren't nosebleeds.

These are nosebleeds!

They were giving out oxygen and wind goggles.

Are those really your seats or are you just teasing?

Unfortunately, those were my actual seats. Camera gives it a weird perspective, but they were far!

I was in Section 27, tenth row from the back.

edit: We played a game of "Where's Hightea Moonweed" to keep us amused before the show.

It was just part of a week long R&R visit, but yes, I was...underwhelmed.

So, thought I'd revisit this. Scroll up to post #8 to see the seats I got from a friend for Peter Gabriel/Sting last year. Mind you, I drove 638 miles for this show. edit: mind you, that friend is NOT hightea moonweed.

Here are the seats I "declined" for Ghost/Iron Maiden last weekend. Didn't go 'cause a buddy "didn't like the setlist."

Ugh....
