RITCHIE BLACKMORE Would Play With DEEP PURPLE Again If Asked

RITCHIE BLACKMORE Would Play With DEEP PURPLE Again If Asked; “It’s Probably Not Probable Though,” Says The Guitar Legend

Ahead of his upcoming arena shows in the UK this June, The Guardian spoke with legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, who was a member of Deep Purple from 1968 – 1975, and again from 1984 –1993. During the interview, Blackmore reveals that he “bears no malice” to his former band now, and would play with them again if he were asked.

That's good of him. I doubt Mr Gillan is rushing to the phone to invite him.

According to Gillan (backstage at the RaRHoF) he called Blackmore TWICE inviting him to perform. I think Ian probably learned his lesson.

DEEP PURPLE’s JON LORD - RITCHIE BLACKMORE And IAN GILLAN “Don’t Like Each Other”

Deep Purple continue to dig up a treasure trove of classic videos, including this MTV report from October 1990. The band had just recorded Slaves And Masters with Joe Lynn Turner, his first and only album with the band.

Late keyboard legend Jon Lord remarked about the departure of Ian Gillan: “Ritchie (Blackmore) and Ian (Gillan) have clashing personalities - they don’t like each other. They respect each other as musicians, but they don’t like each other.”

Sounds a bit like Ritchie drolly trolling Gillan.

I love the next album Ritchie (Blackmore) and Ian (Gillan) made together...their last: The Battle Rages On. Go figure.

Agreed. It's usually WDWTWA that's forgotten....which is a mistake; if you claim to love classic Deep Purple.

Sounds like the peace Gilmour and Waters have. Certainly no suggestion of working together again.

Unless Steve Morse dies in a plane crash, I don't see it happening.
