I like Yngwie. The Alcatrazz and his solo albums in the 80's were great.

Want a good laugh? Alcatrazz actually made a concept video for the song

Re: 80's Heavy Metal

I loved those early Twisted Sister albums, though they went downhill FAST after Stay Hungry.

Most definitely. Stay Hungry will always be a classic in my book. Funny story - the first time I heard Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," I said to a friend who was riding in the car with me, "I didn't know Twisted Sister had a new album out." Keep in mind, it was in a car on the radio.

Great bands, one and all. You should take part in my "Metal Phase" polls, if you already haven't. Every one of those bands has been featured, with the exception of Slayer. They're on the way.

The infamous $1.5 million performance that Ozzy slags Van Halen for. I saw all of those bands, with the exception of Triumph, at festivals in Germany during that period. They were all at or close to their artistic peaks at the time. I have heard that a DVD set is in the works that will contain all of the footage shot during the festival. That would be cool.

Yeah, that would be cool

Several of those bands also played Dortmund in December 1983 with Maiden headlining - some sort of early Monsters of Rock, if memory serves. 1983 Ozzy is just the coolest - Jake E. Lee really gives his all live!

I'll drink to that! Still listen to them every day and the tunes still make me feel like they did when I first heard them. Timeless.

I was at that show in Dortmund. It was called the Rock Pop Festival. Maiden's performance is on their The History of Iron Maiden, Pt. 1: The Early Days DVD. The whole thing was taped for German TV. The Monsters of Rock was in 1984. I was at the Nurnberg show for that one. I believe it was taped for television also, but my memory of that show is a little foggy.

You posted a thread on a DVD called German Quarter by Page & Plant. It looks like it has a lot of material from the Walking Into Clarksdale tour. I caught a show on that tour as well and I would love to find a copy of the DVD, but I have had no luck so far. Any tips on where I can find it?
