The Beatles v Led Zeppelin

Which of the the two most popular bands in history wins your preference. We may have had this poll before, but I'm new here, so I have to find out for myself. Mention other bands if you like.

Beatles
Led Zeppelin

Re: The Beatles v Led Zeppelin

The Beatles are in a league of their own--Led Zeppelin, hasn't earned the right to be in that league.

Neither would be in my top 25 but I like both. If forced to choose it would be The Beatles.

In terms of iconic songs, lasting influence, studio experimentation or even the charisma of band members then The Beatles win hands down.

Re: The Beatles v Led Zeppelin

Even Led Zeppelin's members would say the Beatles are more important.

That may be true but I don't think that was the question asked.
Answering the question asked , I prefer Led Zeppelin over the Beatles.

Re: The Beatles v Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin rocks harder (most of the time). They were the perfect storm of natural talent with a meticulous eye but a light touch towards messing with what comes naturally. Can't get enough of Jimmy's crisp, raw production. Yeah I love the Beatles, but I love Zep more.

Re: The Beatles v Led Zeppelin

The BEatles are a top 5 band in my book, Led zep with moaning annoying Plant and sloppy box lead solos by Page don't make my top 250

Re: The Beatles v Led Zeppelin

I can listen to the Beatles all day and night, but a little Robert Plant goes a long way with me, I can only take him in small doses.

As somebody recently posted in another tread, it's a shame Terry Reid didn't take the LZ gig when it was offered to him. That would have been a very different (I say better) band. Reid would have contributed better vocals, better lyrics, and another pretty good guitar to the mix. I'll always wonder what they would have sounded like.

The Beatles

I like Led Zeppelin but Robert Plant's voice is not easy to swallow and frankly, I never liked their lyrics.

Compare the "Lemon Song" to A Day In The Life and you'll see what I mean.
