Re: What Is Your Favorite ELO album?

Eldorado
Face The Music
Then first three in that order

Anyone know more about that back-masking bit in Face The Music, what it says, how it came about?

Message To The Country is great, too, though a Move album.

Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_on_High

When the song is played backwards, the message, in a masked heavy voice, can be heard stating, "The music is reversible but time is not. Turn back. Turn back. Turn back. Turn back." - ostensibly Jeff Lynne's shot at backmasking hysteria, after completely false satanic allegations were made against their song "Eldorado" by Fundamentalist Christianity members.

I had Message from the Country on my list because it was a transitional album, their dry run for ELO, recorded during the same sessions as No Answer, Move Ltd presents the services of The Electric Light Orchestra.

Heard "Hold on Tight" when it hit #10 of Casey Kasem's Weekly Top 40 Show back in 1981, my Dad bought me this Time cassette, then I was on the way to being hooked by Electric Light Orchestra!

Same here on all counts, famed music critic and editor of Trouser Press magazine wrote those liner notes!

Re: What Is Your Favorite ELO album?

I still have a soft spot for A New World Record because it's not only the first ELO album I bought (at the time it was released) but also one of the first record albums I ever bought. It's still here in my living room. It's a very solid album and I still love it every time I listen to it.

Zoom is really a Jeff Lynne solo album, much like Armchair Theatre album. So I'll pick TIME.

ELO are from my hometown so I'll always have a soft spot for them. 'A New World Record' and 'Time' would be my picks

Re: What Is Your Favorite ELO album?

The first one, faults and all. Roy Wood could have done a little more fiddling. He did fine on solo records, on cello.
