I'll agree with that one. King's X for me too.

Didn't Coldplay come out of the 90's also? They're excellent.

King's X. Dream Theater would also be among the best.

Skinny Puppy!

No, wait, most of their albums were in the 80's...I'm going to have to go back to the 80's forum for that one...

Erm...Garbage? Stabbing Westward? That's the sort of thing I was listening to then.

Oh, definitely: Legendary Pink Dots. Some of their best albums they did from 1985 to 1995. Of those, Crushed Velvet Apocalypse, Maria Dimension, both Shadow Weaver albums, Four Days, From Here You'll Watch the World Go By and 9 Lives to Wonder are all masterpieces...and were all released in the 90's (whew!).

What kind of music are they? Eclectic -- they did everything from short folky numbers to extended space jammy pieces, improvisation, some very structured, some not, some psychedelic, some more melodic. Wonderful, wonderful music.

When I saw the thread title, the first thing that came to mind was King's X. Nice to see I wasn't the only one to mention them. They get my vote. Some others that I really like are Alice In Chains,Stone Temple Pilots,Spock's Beard, the last couple Soundgarden albums, the first few Pearl Jam albums, Ben Folds Five, Arc Angels had real potential.

If the question was "favorite" band of the 90's, I would without hesitation say Weezer. But I know they are far from the "best" band of 90's, no matter how you define the word "best". Two albums just don't cut it. I guess my vote would go to Radiohead for "best" band.

Id have to go with Pearl Jam, their output was high and the quality was consistantly good.

Other favorite bands from the 90's:

Tragically Hip
Screaming Trees
Nirvana
Tea Party
Offspring
Radiohead
Frank Black
