Re: Love Potion #9

Searchers easily. This superb British Invasion version has the best and most listenable arrangement by far.

Clovers.

Great song. I love the line, "I'm gonna mix it up right here in the sink".

I agree. The Searchers for me as well, although Alvin the Chipmunk's version rates honourable mention.

Re: Love Potion #9

I chose my first music obsession....Neil Diamond. I have loved him for forty years.

Speaking of Neil, he has a new cd out. My daughter bought it for me for Mother's Day. It is great.

Love,
Cat

Re: Love Potion #9

The Coasters, The Clovers, The Searchers' version all sound pretty much the same too me (kinda prefer the Coasters though...)

First time I heard this song was on Herb Albert's Whipped Cream. Total strip-tease music, very great!

Ronnie Dio's:

Apparently the White Stripes covered it... I definitely would like to hear that one.

Re: Love Potion #9

I went with The Searchers for this one, with Herman's Hermits in a close 2nd.

Re: Love Potion #9

The Searchers

But actually a good friend named Jeff does a cover that I love. I heard it first as a young teen when his garage band did it

THEN I heard the Searchers version shortly after

Herman Hermits is a very close second too

It's the Clovers for me, I like them slightly better than the Searchers .... It's a fine song and both groups do it justice ...

Re: Love Potion #9

The Searchers got the words wrong. But other than that, a passable version. But I voted for The Clovers' version. I didn't even know Neil Diamond and Heman's Hermits did this one. And if anyone votes for Alvin & The Chipmunks' version of anything, they'll get a spankin'!
