To bring this thread neatly to a close/basically around 1984-5, radio had turned to shit- not the music... the styling was awful- the in house adverts shocking!

The late John Shaw-his night time show 'Here Be Dragons', ultimately and years later gave me the courage to cease hiding behind music and join a Radio Station as a presenter, which is what I did... embracing a lunchtime show, then a Drive Time and 'Late Date' anything goes type format, this gave me a chance to become more informed and receptive.... and able to 'educate' the listeners by subversively playing the odd Seeds or Standells track. To close then with a few memories from John Shaws selection box.
RIP mate.
