The Stones should devote their "off" time to polishing off that new LP on which they keep saying they're working. It's more than five years overdue....

Wondering if any others on this board are also going to the rescheduled Santa Clara August 18 show? I have a what was at the time the cheapest ticket for the second deck about $90. But won't spend any time in that seat but rather will roam more open areas especially the west end mezzanine or walkways where there is open space to dance with views of the stage. Well until isle monitors roust me. I would rather be down on the stadium floor standing the way rock concerts should be experienced. Note have seen stones several times over decades.

The Rolling Stones’ Newest Tour Opener? A Retirement Planning Lesson

Why a nonprofit that gives retirement income advice is the sole sponsor of the group’s upcoming tour

Mick Jagger turns 76 in July. Despite the frontman’s apparent eternality, most of the Rolling Stones’ fanbase, hovering between the ages of 45 and 75, is either approaching retirement age or already in it — which makes them the ideal demographic for the unlikely group sponsoring the band’s upcoming No Filter tour.

When fans arrive at each venue for the Stones’ upcoming U.S. tour, a bus manned by the Alliance for Lifetime Income, a one-year-old D.C.-based nonprofit set up by two dozen financial services firms to boost awareness about retirement income options, will greet them outside the stadium. The Alliance, which doesn’t recommend specific advisors but encourages people to explore financial planning tools and various non-employment income options such as annuities, is the sole sponsor of the Stones’ tour, in a partnership spurred by the band’s previous relationship with one of the nonprofit’s members. (Life insurance company Jackson National had sponsored a Stones museum exhibit in Nashville last year.) Since the Alliance is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit, the cost of the deal was “far less” than that of a corporate brand deal, but the band was interested in supporting the cause, organizers say.

The Stones went on their first American tour between 4 June 1964 and 20 June 1964. And now here 55 years later they're still rolling and are returning to commemorate that first tour!

If they can still do it, then good for them. But if it ever gets to the point where they simply can't, they need to be realistic and hang it up. I understand giving up the one thing you've been doing for 55 years (over two thirds of your life) would be agonizing, but if you're giving your fans performances that can't even come close to matching their original fire, you need to face the music (pun intended). Now, I haven't seen a video of them performing since around 2005 (I'm pretty sure the concert itself was a bit older than that), so for all I know, they may still be lighting up the stage. I don't know if anyone can attest to this. I'm assuming you Foxhound could do this better than anybody else on this board.

A tough comparison. The Stones from 55 years ago in 1964:

And from 2018:

Are you sure though that a better comparison wouldn't be the Rolling Stones today against the other touring acts these days? Say Drake or Beyoncé? Who would you prefer to see these days?

Well that's not exactly what I was insinuating. I would rather see the Rolling Stones in coffins on stage than see 99.99% of today's artists. Personally, I believe Beyonce is the most overrated artist in the history of music. So much for so little.
