Re: Albums That You Shelved After One Listen
I did buy The Wall by Floyd when it came out (1979)...cool packaging and much hype around it....played it a few times and never played it again.
Comfortably Numb and Another Brick were all over the...

Re: Albums That You Shelved After One Listen
^ Those first 2 or 3 Mahavishnu lp's are excellent...Goodman found a band that was as good as if not better than his own abilities.
The Flock were interesting imo but didn't have the chops he had.

Re: Mountain versus Spirit!
I saw Mountain in 1970-1 in Chicago...good show ..never saw Spirit unfortunately. The original band broke up after 12 Dreams in the end of 1970.
IMHO that lp is better ,more creative and diverse ...

Them Changes was my favorite by Buddy but not exactly obscure...imho....Them Changes was on the charts and radio a lot back then.
Even Auger and Driscoll were fairly well known in England .
C'mon...

Re: Favourites by Artist - List 6
Yeah...many 'hair bands' like them I didn't care for back in the day...
Van Halen ,Leppard and Jovi were never on my turntable.
I will say that Eddie was a very good player who deserved a better band...

Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc
They, Gravy Train, did 4 lp's and most of them are on you tube.
I like that early Brit proggy blues rock sound from 1968-1972 or so..there were a few US bands also but the Brits had it down.

Spirit... more influential imho in the world of music.. better songwriters also....and a band that had many styles married into their overall sound.
Hendrix played with and taught Randy California...

Re: David Bowie versus Elton John!
I think if one looks at the lps by both from 1969-1980 the material by Bowie carries more weight and gravitas than Elton's stuff....though as mentioned Elton did some nice songs in his career.

I would...

Both had some 'hits' and were popular in the late 60's.....but neither...
