What Are You Listening To?
Time for a restart.
And to answer the question: I'm wondering that myself--my son and some friends are downstairs and I can only hear the thumping bass... JcS

Re: What Are You Listening To?
GP never got the respect he deserved in the states;
steamy, soul screaming locomotive R & B that rocked out with the hottest white hot pub band of the late 70's, Brinsley Szwartz. I was lucky... seeing them in '79 was to never forget seeing them. Excellent live fare. ![]() |

![]() Hot Wire by Trapeze (1974). Steal a Mile shows that Mel Galley was a very good singer as well as being an excellent guitar player. He took over lead vocals after Glenn Hughes left the band, but was much underrated in both departments. Rob Kendrick also sings and plays guitar on the album - he later worked with Budgie.

![]() Two CDs of ultra-rarities from '65 and '66: tracks for the Autumn and Scorpio labels plus loads of live cuts from Bay Area venues. |

Re: What Are You Listening To?
![]() Systematic Chaos, the 2009 version, although I am not sure how this differs from the 2007 original. Even for a progressive rock fan like me, some of the tracks are too long and in need of editing, the dungeons and dragons lyrics are tedious and someone should've told Mike Portnoy not to contribute 'vocals'. On the other hand, Constant Motion is very heavy and the instrumental section, from around the four minute mark, is amazing. The best track on the album is the only James LaBrie contribution, Porphets of War, showing that he should be writing much more for DT. By the mid-noughties, DT were tighter than ever and should've done better - this is an album that I only dig out occasionally for the aforementioned tracks. Unfortunately, three years later, Portnoy left what was his own band for Avenged Sevenfold, which unsurprisingly did not work out. When he attempted to return to DT, they employed their lawyers to keep him out. Since then he has worked most fruitfully in projects involving Neal Morse or Billy Sheehan.

But the film is a saddening bore, 'cause she's lived it ten times or more... ![]()
