I knew there was a shift in thought around this time, my mom attended my Parents/Teacher evening at school wearing orange Lee Coopers- short Kaftan and no shoes!! (I died, but next day I was king of the creds with 6th form!)

The Eurovision Song Contest featured heavily on the radio and brought me closer to hearing songs and artists I would have otherwise missed... a few examples(but not necessarily the entry songs)

I don't know about Canada or the States but radio dj's were treated like royalty and commanded huge sums.. terrible that many committed sexual offences and the state broadcaster turned a blind eye!
