Re: Radio Daze

Around this time my world turned to shit, I nearly lost an eye... months in Hospital... switched schools and my folks broke up!
Still, things weren't all that bad- I got to listen to Pop The Question :

Gilbert O'Sullivan - Nothing Rhymed.

Re: Radio Daze

I'd taken a paper round, and started buying singles from Woolworths every Saturday - they were less than a quarter!(15p)
Hadn't a Scooby that this was an old hit- it was a skinhead anthem at the time:

The Tams - Hey Girl Don't Bother Me.

Hey! Great track and I'd never heard it till now. So it seems that Hotlegs became 10cc.

But I do know the lead dancer in the video! She's the fabulous Sandy Sargent:

Re: Radio Daze

We lived three doors down from a working girl, and often would 'entertain' playing records or drown the gymnastics with reggae songs, I'd sit on her step and play yard dog... just in case-
Back A Yard was a reggae and Ska programme that played mainstream stuff, not exactly Dub plates etc..
Here's a few the beeb and stations permitted.

Dandy Livingstone - Suzanne Beware Of The Devil.

Re: Radio Daze

I don't think any station played Wet Dream by Max Romeo (sadly)... but this made it to the top... and pailed Johnny Nash into watery reggae.

Dave & Ansell Collins - Double Barrel.

In 1961 and 1962 the British American Oil Company sponsored national radio broadcasts of one or two CFL games per week. CKSL Radio 1290 carried these games in London and I awaited them with anxious anticipation. B/A issued these booklets featuring the legendary Bud Grant to promote the broadcasts:

I have one of these booklets in my present day collection.

Oh absolutely! The radio with the internet page for live stats is still my preferred option for both CFL, hockey and baseball games!

Wonderful memories. When we stayed in Holland in 1969, this is the station we listened to.
