Re: Grand Funk Railroad vs. Ten Years After!
Not a huge fan of either band, but Ten Years After at least has a great guitarist.
I tend to lump GFR in with those generic corporate rock bands like Foreigner, Sweet, Styx etc... |

Re: Grand Funk Railroad vs. Ten Years After!
Went with Ten Years After...but there are a few Funk lp's I like a lot....might have been a different vote head to head on certain lp's.

Re: Grand Funk Railroad vs. Ten Years After!
I just dont really get into either one of them (lord knows i've tried), but went with GFR out of the two.

Re: Grand Funk Railroad vs. Ten Years After!
I think Grand Funk are more accessible to those who like top 40 radio. They did have a number of radio songs back in the day and several were pretty tame like Some KInd of Wondeful and Locomotion.
Ten Years After did have one radio staple in Change The World but that was heavier than the Funk radio tracks imho. Lee was a far better guitarist than Farmer and I also think the drums and bass were better in TYA. These were seasoned Brit blues rock players The red lp by GFR is the only one that can stand up against what TYA was doing early on....but the later stuff was mostly sub par for me. |
