Brian Jones never got his due. Had he lived longer, I think he would have emerged from the Glimmer Twins shadow as the most gifted of them all.

Nonsense. It's all about their songs. "Satisfaction", "Paint It Black" and the rest could not be faked.

You're half right. You can't say that Brian Jones did not get his due while he was with the Stones. He got at least his due for his accomplishments while alive from both fans and critics. He might, however, have indeed emerged from under the shadow of the Glimmer Twins had he somehow developed the strength of character to overcome his substance abuse problems. The sad fact of the matter though is that these substance abuse problems destroyed him as a band member, musician and human being.

Ian Stewart...I was wondering when someone would actually list him as the most gifted member.

Re: Who's The Most Talented Member Of The Rolling Stones?

I think it is their magic group effect.

If Mick or Keef or either of them were talented, how come their individual solo albums didnt come up to the Stones standards or not something the stones fans play frequently?

One thing I noticed is when Wyman left, they still did well with 4 others but not that great.

I think there is something magic about those guys, when they get together, at least back in the days even with one or two additional musicians like Jimmy Miller or Ian MacLagen.
I was expecting them to indroduce Darryl Jones as the real replacement for Wyman and portray him as an official Stone in all the band pics or posters but ironically they didnt!

(little offtrack...Rod Stewart was talented..so he became successfull when went solo... without the Faces)

While Mick Taylor may indeed be the most technically gifted, musicianship is far more than technical prowess. Whatever else goes into creating/recording good music, Mick Taylor seemed to lack. Just look at his career.
