Re: What Are You Listening To?
^^ it is--haven't listened to it in awhile...
vv another one i haven't spun in awhile... the first four songs always blow me away; lots of sub on this, the bass is a beauty, Fripp incorporates incredible electronic treatments and Adrian Belew sings beautifully... '' ![]() |

Re: What Are You Listening To?
This is one of those strange occurrences we used to get in the music business,
and what started as a moneymaking venture ended as a small cult masterpiece that can be very appreciated now... got more soul than the Eagles. George Martin, the Beatles studio maestro, produced this 1976 surprise. The only way to get this back in the 90's on cd was to pay $42 for the Jap import. ![]() |

Re: What Are You Listening To?
Even if you lost interest in post '74 Heroes R Hard 2 Find - Fleetwood Mac, as I did, this is
what a studio album is all about. With a band that can't get much more popular, what are you going to do next? Floyd did it with their double, Led Zep did too. Both of those popular lps were received a little differently than Tusk. Tusk of course charted, but that was about it. I remember, I was there. LOL The bitching and moaning started almost immediately, about how some of the songs were too odd, too experimental. Two huge previous lps of pop relationship bliss and the States couldn't get enough, then Tusk... WTF! I laugh now because over half of it is in the same vein of the former two releases. Lindsey Buckingham proved himself quite the pop genius maestro on this one; glad they let him run amok in the studio. It is and was their last great album for me. This one was brilliant... pop, progressive, aggressive, with some bouncy fandango folk thrown in for good measure. I have not listened to this in some time, but it never fails to amaze me musically, even more so than its release history. I thought the 80's would be a wonderful decade where music and arts were concerned, but the Tusk reception should have been a signal, an omen that the cerebral rush of mush was about to begin. I kid sort of, but sometimes my great expectations fall as flat as vinyl. Although the print critics were mixed, at least Steve Holden of RS gave it a great review in 1979. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/al.../tusk-19791213 ![]() |

![]() "Symphony In Blue" Kate Bush (1978)
I see myself suddenly, on the piano, as a melody. My terrible fear of dying no longer plays with me... for now I know that I'm needed for the symphony.
