Re: Woodstock 50th Anniversary Planned

Carlos Santana, who performed at the 1969 fest, previously revealed to Rolling Stone that he had aligned with the Bethel Woods celebration and not Woodstock 50.

“They have an amphitheater there,” Santana said in January of the Bethel Woods event. “I’m going to invite whoever is still here, whether it’s Joan Baez or members from Sly Stone, and I’m going to play Santana music. Santana’s going to be the house band, but I want to be able to honor those who are still here and maybe invite rappers like Common or Kendrick Lamar. Santana’s very interested, like Miles Davis, into connecting with people from seven-years-old to under 33. I don’t want to be just like a jukebox in the twilight zone, stuck in the Sixties.”

Bethel Woods replaces Woodstock 50th anniversary festival plans with 3 concerts

There is now only one major Woodstock 50th anniversary festival: The official Woodstock 50 concert at Watkins Glen.

The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts announced Tuesday that it has shifted its plans for a three-day festival into simply three separate concerts. The Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival was scheduled for Aug. 16-18 at the original Woodstock site, but the venue will instead focus on “A Season of Song & Celebration” all summer long.

“We are humbled by the interest in the anniversary year and we realized it was greater than we’d ever dreamed,” Bethel Woods Center for the Arts CEO Darlene Fedun said in a statement. “We recognize the importance of this place to so many, and our mission of preservation and interpretation of the 1960s is central to A Season of Song and Celebration, as it provides our guests the opportunity to reflect, to learn and to celebrate the legacy of what occurred here.”

Pearl Jam Sad 2019 Rumor Revealed, Will They Play Woodstock?

While many Pearl Jam fans have been hopeful that Pearl Jam would play the Woodstock 50th anniversary show at Watkins Glen International Race Track or the celebration at the original Bethel Woods site, a new rumor suggests the band aren’t coming to New York in August for either celebration.

Woodstock 50 Concert Reportedly Plagued by Financial Issues

Co-founder Michael Lang says a lineup will be announced "within the next couple of weeks."

The Woodstock 50 event, meant to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the festival this August, is reportedly running into financial and logistical issues staging the concert.

Due to take place Aug. 16-18 in Watkins Glen in Upstate New York, the event promised to “give generations of fans the opportunity to join together in the festival’s foundational intent of harmony and compassion.” But since that January 9 announcement, few details have emerged — namely, the lineup reveal.

According to Hits Daily Double, that delay is due to “issues regarding the raising of money and venue capacity.” The site notes that such acts as Dead & Co., The Killers, Miley Cyrus, Santana, The Black Keys, Chance the Rapper, Jay-Z, Imagine Dragons and Halsey have been approached to perform at the 1,000-acre Watkins Glen International race track.

If I express how I really feel about Jay Z and Miley Cyrus attending anything having to do with Woodstock, I might be investigated by Homeland Security, so I better just shut up.

Exclamation Re: Woodstock 50th Anniversary Planned

Other than Santana, the Zombies, Canned Heat, Black Keys, Pussy Riot, Hot Tuna and perhaps one or two others, the lineup is a major groaner.

The organizers should have pulled out all stops to get the Rolling Stones to headline the bill.

Re: Woodstock 50th Anniversary Planned

There are actually a number of good acts but typical of festivals these days they try to mix too many genre and it will lead to problems with the fans. This festival (besides Dead and Company) lakes major draws. The Killers, Miley Cyrus and Jay-Z, Imagine Dragons are not headliners. Also once again they tried to mix it up too much on each day. Put Chance the Rapper and Jay Z on the same day. The Black Keys with Chance the Rapper and Dead?

Where are the big acts: Pearl Jam(of course PJ refuses to play but they did play other festivals so they obviously weren't offered enough money), Rolling Stones are on tour this summer so why they not here, The Who are also around this summer, u2, Red Hot Chili Peppers(after 99 I can see why),Kendrick Lamar(if you are going to have Rap artists), no Dylan, no Paul Mac, no Ed Sheeran? If you are going Miley then why not Taylor Swift - we could go on. The fact is that many big acts want nothing to do with a festival in the middle of nowhere with a possibility of rain and a sh*t show like Woodstock 99. Glastonbury and Coachella run much better festivals and can get better acts.

The Rolling Stones will actually be playing at the Burl's Creek Event Grounds, a massive outdoor concert venue just northwest of Lake Simcoe near Barrie, on June 29th:
