Garage Rock (Revival)

Thought I would start a new thread to discuss all things garage. I know there are a few other fanatics on here (paging shuffle and hodad among others). What are some of your new discoveries? Best new garage albums?

I will start with a link to a great documentary:
New Garage Explosion!!: In Love With These Times

The entire movie is now posted on youtube, not sure for how long. Features Jay Reatard, Gories, Davilla 666, Thee Oh Sees, Ty Seagall and several other great bands.

Re: Garage Rock (Revival)

Looks like a great documentary. Thanks.

As far as modern garage bands goes I like most anything by the Black Lips, King Khan, Dirtbombs, Reigning Sound and the Oblivions.

This is a good site to discover garage bands ... old and new.

Re: Garage Rock (Revival)

This is a link to our music recorded in the 60s. Please let me know what you think. It is real "Garage Rock". At least, "Little Boy Blue" is considered a Classic "Garage" song.

Re: Garage Rock (Revival)

Major bump!
My cuppa tea is mostly US 1960s garage bands... or that sound. Probably down to Lenny Kaye, these were pricey additions to your collection, frequent trips to London ensured my shelves were stocked, and when abroad... my late mom was driven demented by the courier van delivering almost daily ( there was a restriction that only 51 records could be in your luggage!)

Re: Garage Rock (Revival)

After seeing Riot On Sunset Strip, anything on Tower Records was fair game ( these supported the Stones and did 3 of their numbers!)

The Standells - Barracuda.

Exclamation Re: Garage Rock (Revival)

This may be my favourite garage rock track of all time (though just barely over a number of others):

Here's a really good cover:
