For me, it comes down to Nirvana and Pearl Jam. On the one hand, Pearl Jam obviously wins in the longevity category. I enjoy every album they have ever made with my favorites being "Ten", "Vs.", "Vitology" and the self titled album from '06. Nirvana, while they don't have anywhere near the volume of albums, has the best album between both bands in "In Utero". Of course, "Bleach", "Nevermind", and the Unplugged album aren't to shabby either. I'm gonna go with Nirvana right now, but that could change at any given time. |

Re: The battle for Seattle!
I certainly respect AIC, but i'm very surprised that they are garnering more votes than PJ and just as many as Nirvana. It's the crusty old classic rocker effect at work I says.

Re: The battle for Seattle!
alice in chains were the best band out of them all in this poll.they were very underrated in the 90's.nirvana got all the critical acclaim.pearl jam got all the record sales.i think alice in chains out put stands the test of time the best though.dirt was one of the best albums of the 90's.

Re: The battle for Seattle!
Boy this is tough. I listened to some side by side comparisons on UTube and it is a 4-way tie...love em all. Of course I was born in Seattle, maybe that has something to do with it

![]() Thank you, thank you! I was trying to put together a tight horse race. I knew this would be a really close poll because this one that I did last year was very close as well:

![]() Since they all happily sold records outside of Seattle, they have no alternative but to accept votes from outside the city boundaries as well.

![]() Thanks Dawnie!
I've been to concerts where I've liked the opening act better than the main attraction, especially when it comes to indie groups. I certainly liked Dean & Britta better than Mercury Rev. ![]() |

Re: The battle for Seattle!
For me a very close fight between Soundgarden and Alice In Chains.
1. Soundgarden 2. Alice in Chains 3. Nirvana 4. Pearl Jam But this is just the grunge metal bands battle for Seattle. When I'm thinking of Seattle metal bands my mind is set on Queensryche and Sanctuary/Nevermore.
