Phil May Of The Pretty Things Passes

I'm a Pretty Things fanatic and this one hurts. RIP Phil.

I have SF Sorrow and Parachute on original vinyl (found them in a used record shop some years ago...)...I like those two but never play them anymore.

Never play them anymore!?!? What are you waiting for. They are both great albums.

They are both excellent albums....SF Sorrow is often claimed as the first rock opera...though Who fans will argue on that.
Parachute is also very good.
I'll pull them out....I have about 800 lp's and 400 cd's...I don't play some of my older stuff much anymore. never seem to get the time to just sit in my stereo room and listen....though with the plague quarantine these days I have spun many old ones.

Exclamation Re: Phil May Of The Pretty Things Passes

The Pretty Things are an underrated band.

Dick Taylor (on the left with the facial hair) was also part of the band. Dick was playing with Mick and Keith but left the Rolling Stones in the fall of 1962 after Mick and Keith joined up with Brian because he didn't want to be "relegated" to playing bass guitar. I often wonder whether the Stones would have achieved commercial and artistic success more quickly had Dick Taylor stayed with the band.

After all Bill Wyman didn't exactly have much stage presence. Nor did he appear to have a big role creatively with the Stones. But Bill may perhaps have been the perfect partner for Charlie Watts in the Stones rhythm section. I don't know. It is curious though that the long procession of Stones' hit singles slowed down to a crawl after Bill left in 1993.
