Re: Frank Sinatra versus Elvis Presley!

Elvis, easy. Because he is the King.

Also, Frank only had one or two styles to him - croon/ballad and swing... Elvis did it all.

Frank....Genius, Legend

Elvis....i dont care one way or the other for elvis, i personally think he's severely overrated and not that great, save for a few songs, there's nothing special about him.

Re: Frank Sinatra versus Elvis Presley!

First of all, I like a lot of Elvis' work, so don't misunderstand me...

...but Frank was there before Elvis, and he was still there after Elvis. He was still doing vital work in the 60s after Elvis had vanished into Vegas and insufferable B-films. Even Sinatra's very last works are quite respectable. After 1969, Elvis did virtually nothing of lasting value.

Sinatra gets my vote, very easily.

I blame Colonel Parker... seriously. He got his hooks into Elvis around 1955 I think. He gradually steered him away from making music (which, let's face it... Elvis had a knack for) to the 30+ Hollywood forgettables he wound up in. He talked him into making movies instead of recording or touring for most of the next decade.

Well, then there's the drugs

I can't even begin to tell you how wrong I think this is - most of Elvis' best work came after his 68 NBC comeback special, imho.

I'm with the Reverend on this question. Elvis burst forth like a shooting star but had by the seventies at a relatively young age allowed himself to degenerate into a bloated version of his former self. Frank, on the other hand, maintained his edge, both musically and with the ladies, well into what are normally called a man's declining years. Not for Frank they weren't though!
