Exclamation Re: Roy Orbison vs. Elvis Presley!

This one is really tough for me.

First of all, it's very obvious that Elvis Presley has a catalogue of hits that dwarfs that of just about any other artist. But when I rank the songs by the two that I like the best, Roy Orbison scores better:

1. Oh, Pretty Woman - Orbison
2. In Dreams - Orbison
3. (Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame - Presley
4. Little Sister - Presley
5. Only the Lonely - Orbison
6. Kiss Me Quick - Presley
7. Suspicious Minds - Presley
8. Running Scared - Orbison
9. It's Over - Orbison
10. Burning Love - Presley

But then again, it's very tough to rank these tracks in order since Orbison's are almost all ballads while Presley's are rockers.

A couple of further factors militate against me voting for Presley. I associate him with my much older sister's generation. Kiss Me Quick/Suspicion was the first record she ever bought in 1964. Secondly I can't overlook the fact that Presley had everything but chose to become a pathetic excuse for a man before he even reached the age of forty (in stark contrast to other music luminaries such as Frank Sinatra and Mick Jagger).
