Exclamation Deep Purple versus Jethro Tull!

A couple of real heavyweights here! Two longstanding bands with initial LPs released in 1968. Which band do you like better? And why?

Deep Purple

Jethro Tull

Re: Deep Purple versus Jethro Tull!

Tull.....been a fan since This Was. A band that progressed (there's that word...) nicely over the years. Great combination of blues, rock, folk, etc.
Stand Up, Benefit, and Aqualung are simply must have lp's for rock fans...though many prog heads like the later ones like TAAB and Passion Play.

Never really much of a fan of DP though I do like the self titled 3rd and In Rock..and there are some great hard rock tracks on Fireball and Machine head.

Re: Deep Purple versus Jethro Tull!

I always felt Blackmore was hampered by not being in a band that wrote better or more interesting songs. Too many of their tracks were just simple hard rock things though
Blackmore certainly had the chops.
