A nice song...and a funny video!

And now...for my favorite guitar riff of all time (no lie)!

Re: Do You Like This Song?

Very nice! This is a way cool bit of psychedelic heaviosity here! I've actually never heard of the band Sun Dial before (although I may have come across the name in a magazine or something without it registering directly on a level of conscious awareness). Like I said, very cool...

(BTW, "With his mouth sewn shut, he still shakes his butt / Cuz he's Hitler & Swayze & Trump & Travolta!" - Mike Patton (Travolta, a.k.a. Quote Unquote, Mr. Bungle)

And here's yet another of my favorite riffs. A gleaming slice of Japanese steel, this one (and methinks Hattori Hanzo would most heartily approve!)...

Sorry, not keen on that above song at all.

My favourite piece from Buckethead, called Whitewash:

Re: Do You Like This Song?

Pretty cool! A real laid-back and trippy, swingin' groove to this one... I must confess, I was never really familiar with any of Buckethead's solo work before. I just knew him as the guy who, until recently, replaced Slash in Guns N' Roses. Although I did hear him play on an instrumental track from the Last Action Hero soundtrack (composed by Michael Kamen). I must say the soundtrack to that film has probably aged better than the movie itself!

A very cool early rock and roll classic! And the lyric is rather moving, too! "Hail! Hail! Rock 'N' Roll!"

Pretty cool song. Not a really big Depeche Mode fan, but I gotta say I like this one! In particular the synth riff is really nifty...

Rather odd from Ennio Morricone and not a favourite but I found it groovy odd. :)

Can this topic have any genre music or just based around Classic Rock realms?

Re: Do You Like This Song?

Weeping Wall: I really love Goblin's older scores from Dario Argento's '70s and '80s films (Deep Red, Suspiria). This is pretty good, as well, even if it doesn't quite have the same classic resonance as those earlier works.

And since a lot of us Classic Rockers have eclectic tastes, I think it only appropriate that we post whatever strikes us as really good.

Straycat: Some old-school rhythm 'n' blues, from the man who originally gave us Train Kept A-Rollin'! High energy stuff...

Not bad, not bad. It doesn't bowl me over, but it's still alright...

Music Note Re: Do You Like This Song?

Wow! I loved that. I'm surprized to hear classical music. I just love that song, because I think Lindsey Buckingham, can really play an acoustic guitar. I love acoustic guitar, and "story-tellers."

Re: Do You Like This Song?

Yeah, I know it sounded a lot like a much older classical piece, and the arrangement was very much in that style. But it was actually an original piece from Simon Fisher Turner's score for the film Caravaggio (1986). Beauty, eh?

And yes, I've heard Wild World many times before on the radio. A great, classic song - music and lyrics.

Now, for some vintage late '80s Sub Pop, from the guys who would later become Pearl Jam and Mudhoney:

Yeah it was a beauty! And thanks for the info on Porkfist; I didn't know that!

I'm not a big Prince fan, but I liked when he almost, kind of, leaned off the stage!

Re: Do You Like This Song?

Oh, yeah! Absolutely freaking glorious!! Beautiful performance of a beautiful song by my favorite Beatle! The vocal harmonies between Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne were wonderful. I've never really been a huge ELO fan, but I've got a fair amount of respect for Lynne as a musician, and I think his vocal performance here was just spot-on. And Prince just turns in a killer performance with that brilliant guitar solo, threatening to - but having the good taste to refrain from it - upstage his colleagues!

As far as leaning off the stage is concerned, it's quite fortunate that
didn't happen! Of course, there have been far worse incidents in the past. Patti Smith once ended up in traction after such a tumble...

Anyhoo...
