Re: Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame 2019 nominees: Radiohead, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks

Def Leppard Lead Rock Hall Class Of 2019

Def Leppard are offering thanks to fans as they celebrate news of their induction into the 2019 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The UK outfit were one of seven acts confirmed Thursday for entry into the Cleveland-based institution next spring, alongside Stevie Nicks, The Cure, Janet Jackson, Radiohead, Roxy Music and The Zombies.

"Thank you so much for voting for us," says frontman Joe Elliott and the band in a new video they released to celebrate the big news. "We will be there in March because you voted for us."

"Now we can stop holding our breath and go, 'Great! How wonderful to be in the same club as The Rolling Stones and The Beatles and The Who and Queen and etc., etc.'," expanded Elliott in a session with Rolling Stone. "It's nice. It's a good club to be in."

As much as I wanted Todd Rundgren to get in, I knew it wasn't happening. On any interview I've seen him in he doesn't hesitate to tell the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to stick their award where the sun doesn't shine.

Everybody knows Rundgren cant rock near as well as Janet Jackson. How anybody can take the RnR HOF seriously is beyond me.

Iron Maiden don’t care about the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame – and neither should you

Bruce Dickinson calls the Hall of Fame a “mausoleum”. He's right – metal bands don't belong in there

If Bruce Dickinson really doesn't care, then why does he keep complaining about not being inducted?

Motley Crue Claim They Are 'Blackballed' By Rock Hall

Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx claimed in a recent interview that his band has been "blackballed" by the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame because of their past behavior.

While the band had created some new recordings for their hit Netflix biopic The Dirt, the band remains committed to their promise not to tour again, or even perform together, following the end of their retirement tour.

The band has been eligible to be inducted in the Rock Hall since 2006, 25 years after the release of their first recording release. And while the Rock Hall has had a history overlooking heavier rock bands, in recent years they have changed direction by inducting the likes of Black Sabbath, KISS, Def Leppard, Rush, and others but Nikki Sixx does not expect to receive the honor for his band.

The subject of the Crue getting into the Rock Hall came up during an interview with here. Nikki was asked about the possibly of the band performing live together again. He responded, "I was actually doing an interview with Tommy [Lee, drummer] a couple of weeks ago, and we were asked if we would ever play together again.

"And Tommy said, 'I don't know. Maybe if we got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or something, we could dust off a couple of our old classics.' I was, like, 'Really?' And he said, 'Why not?' But we don't have any plans because we were told by the Hall of Fame that we would never get in, because of how we've acted, so that's kind of it."

Rock Hall Induction Not That Important To Def Leppard's Elliott

Def Leppard were recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame after been overlooked for many years and frontman Joe Elliott gave the impression in a new interview that the honor is not that important to him.

The band were interviewed for the latest issue of Rock Candy Magazine and in a preview of Joe's conversation, he was asked how the Rock Hall induction stacks up in his ranking of achievements.

Elliott responded, "Not at the top, I'll be honest, not yet. Does it resonate with me in a negative way? Absolutely not. Does it make me stand up with pride the same way as when I heard 'Animal' on the radio for the first time? No. Or when we got our first number one album? No.

"It's the things where there's a union of us and the people who put us where we are, our crowd, that make me feel proud of what we've done. I remember those the most, like the Don Valley show in Sheffield where we had over 45-50,000 people turn up to see us in our home city almost 15 years to the day since we formed. It was crazy!"

Motley Crue top Rock Hall's Voice Your Choice fan vote

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Since the start of the year, Blink-182 has led the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s in-museum “Voice Your Choice” fan vote. But a new contender has emerged.

Motley Crue overtook first place in the kiosk-driven voting this weekend. The popular ‘80s metal band has been surging since the release of “The Dirt” on Netflix in March.

Whether or not this is of great importance depends on how much you believe the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation in New York, which runs the Inductions.

Stevie Nicks earned a nomination (and induction) after leading “Voice Your Choice” in 2018. (This is not to be confused with the annual online Fan Vote that takes place once the nominees have been revealed).

The Foundation has insisted that Nicks winning the vote had nothing to do with her nomination. Though, it does seem like a strange coincidence since she’d never been nominated before as a solo artist.
