Grand Funk.....the 'red album' is a great hard rock blues lp....overlooked by many. The first 3 are solid hard rock lp's and even a few of the ,later ones have some nice tracks.

Re: Grand Funk Railroad vs. Kiss!

I had to go with Kiss. I like some Grand Funk tunes a lot, but i've gone over their entire catalog a few times over and I just cant connect with them like so many others do.

Exclamation Re: Grand Funk Railroad vs. Kiss!

First of all I'd like to say that I really respect Kiss frontman Gene Simmons and the professional approach he takes to the music business. Unlike so many rock stars he's never let substance abuse subsume and ultimately entirely consume his musical/artistic talent. I understand that he doesn't even drink let alone do any drugs. And it shows in his health:

Gene Simmons' Secret to Good Health - The Sun

Yet somehow he's drawn criticism from the great unwashed of the lunatic fringe for precisely his unwavering professionalism.

Nonetheless I find Kiss' presentation too circus like for my taste (and no that doesn't mean I like the other extreme of a rock star looking down at his shoes while he plays). Moreover I'm a railroad buff from way back. Therefore Grand Funk Railroad gets my vote in this one.

Re: Grand Funk Railroad vs. Kiss!

I took Grand Funk. They were my first concert when I was 14, and I liked a lot from their first six albums. On the other hand, I never bought a KISS record--oh, I heard a few while in college, but they just didn't do much for me--well, except "Detroit Rock City," which I think is a good song.
