I was 5 when this song came out (1960). It got a lot of air play on the 'popular music' stations (the term 'Pop'/'Rock' hadn't really caught on yet). The song definitely was a summertime favorite.

Apart from it's title I've never considered this to be a Summer song.. Silly Love Songs or If You Leave Me Now remind me of clement weather... however since The Honeycombs days I've had a penchant for drummers that can sing.
