I'd hear songs like this at the School Dentists, because she was free- this Slavic Butcher never used anaesthetic.. she turned up BBC R.1 to drown the screams!

David McWilliams - Days Of Pearly Spencer.

Re: Radio Daze

The Eurovision Song Contest featured heavily on the radio and brought me closer to hearing songs and artists I would have otherwise missed... a few examples(but not necessarily the entry songs)

Cliff Richard - The Day I Met Marie.

Lulu of course hit the headlines as the Eurovision tied in 1969..and like Sandie Shaw could be heard most days.. this moody tune caught my ears :

Re: Radio Daze

I don't know about Canada or the States but radio dj's were treated like royalty and commanded huge sums.. terrible that many committed sexual offences and the state broadcaster turned a blind eye!

Mack the Knife was one of the very earliest hits I remember noticing on the radio:

I heard a comedy skit by an arguing couple on the radio in the early 1960's and it was so funny I never forgot it. I took the trouble to track down their name some 45 years later in 2008 or so:
