Re: King Crimson vs. Procol Harum!

In the early years of King Crimson I could take or leave (mostly leave) them. "In the Court of the Crimson King" was ok. A couple of nice tunes. It wasn't until "Larks' Tongues in Aspic" did I get them. And then I really got them. From that point on I was hardcore fan. Unfortunately I'm not a lover of the most recent three drummer thing. Anyway KC gets my vote, even though I went to this fantastic concert in 1971 listed below.

Wow! Was that concert all in one evening? And who played with Jeff Beck?

Re: King Crimson vs. Procol Harum!

I wish!!! No those were 5 separate shows. (Jeff Beck (I attended that one also), Mountain, Procol Harum/Yes/King Crimson, Alice Cooper, Humble Pie) Jeff Beck was with The Jeff Beck Group - Jeff Beck, Bobby Tench, Max Middleton, Clive Chaman & Cozy Powell "Rough and Ready"). The opening act (for Jeff Beck) was Redbone about three years before "Come and Get Your Love". They were really good (also good and drunk). I had seen Yes earlier that year but this time Rick Wakeman was playing keys.

Re: King Crimson vs. Procol Harum!

I get the impression that King Crimson was all too often deliberately trying to be avant-garde while Procol Harum was just trying to lay down good tracks . My vote went to Procol Harum therefore.
