Baby Come Back - Player
"This Time I'm in It for Love" supposedly was a top ten hit, but I don't remember hearing it. "Prisoner of Your Love" peaked at 27, but I think "Silver Lining" (62) was a better song from the Danger Zone album. |

Re: *Hits n Misses*
The one and only 'hit' from Philadelphia's Frankie Smith. Certified 'Gold' by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This particular copy from YouTube has been viewed over 12 million times. I worked in Philadelphia for over 30 years and from time to time you would see Frankie Smith walking down the street (and he looked just like the photo below). Sadly, he passed away in 2019.

Re: *Hits n Misses*
Double Dutch Bus is a great tune! The first and only place I ever heard it was in Montréal on a Sunday morning in the early 1980's at a record shop on the north side of rue Ste.-Catherine just east of University Street not too far from a Mr. Steer where I'd often go for breakfast when visiting the city.

This dude was cool, and his discs now pass thru' hands, for serious dollar.
Died penniless too, (literally a Kinks lyric, taxman taken all his dough.) Respect : Roy Hamilton - Crackin' Up Over You. |

These were a live band to see!
Their album Chocs Away deserves closer scrutiny...this was the big hit. Kursaal Flyers - Little Does She Know... |

Re: *Hits n Misses*
If I recall this band were formed several from others (I'll slot them in below)but I could be wrong... I tend to forget more than I know these times!
Jigsaw - Sky High. This delightful dit from '65. Pinkertons Assorted Colours - Mirror Mirror. and these- this was the first song Jagger & Richard wrote for another artist.. but still failed to make an impact. The Mighty Avengers - So Much In Love. (spot the Led Zep man?) |

In a 2015 interview, Bob Dylan suggested DeVille should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Said Dylan, "(DeVille) stood out, his voice and presentation ought to have gotten him in there by now." Critic Thom Jurek said about him, "His catalog is more diverse than virtually any other modern performer".

![]() The Swingin' Medallions had a big hit with Double Shot of My Baby's Love in 1966 despite it being banned from airplay on many stations for its suggestive lyrics:
Sandy Sarjeant the sensational lead dancer on Ready Steady Go! can be seen in the above video. The song though made far more sense performed by a female singer, e.g. "Double shot of my baby's love", "loved me so long and loved me so hard" and "It's a good thing for me they don't bottle that stuff". The Goodees did precisely that in 1969 and did it very well indeed: ![]()

Re: *Hits n Misses*
This song should have been a hit for Al Stewart IMO. A good rocker from the 24 Carrots album, but apparently his heyday had past by then.
